It is public knowledge that I have been overworked and underpaid over the past fourteen years. I shall therefore not dwell on this sad story here.
Last year I managed to take a sabbatical leave for 5 months. It was a very wise and enjoyable thing to do!
I plan to take my next SSP(L) - this is how our version of "sabbatical leave" called - as soon as possible, hopefully in the second half of 2005 for 4-6 months, following the 2005 IFORS Conference in Hawaii. I shall be happy to spend this time in more than one location.
I'll consider any reasonable proposal, especially from individual and/or organisations in Australia and the neighbourhood.
In addition to teaching and research in the areas of my expertise, other possibilities for my sabbatical are:
- I'll be delighted to establish contacts with OR persons who are interested in developing teaching material for the World Wide Web and I shall be happy to give workshops/courses on this topic and develop web modules to suit you special needs.
- With regard to my work on Composite Concave Programming, I am interested in collaborating with LP/QP software developers on the development of commercial Composite Concave Linear Programming software.
- My favourite research area is still Dynamic Programming. I shall be delighted to share my expertise with analysts interested in the modelling aspects of DP and in particular in the relationship between DP, branch and bound and constraint programming. I am also interested in the development of user friendly, commercial, (almost) general-purpose DP software.
If you plan to attend the EURO XX conference in Rhodes (July 4-7 2004) we can continue/resume this discussion/monologue over a cup of coffee!!!
